Looking to get my feet wet in the trucking industry. Been on here for awhile before I decided to join. Just trying to soak up a lot of info to see if this is something I wanted to do.
I'm not a complete stranger to trucking, I use to run freight out of southern maryland to Ocean City and Virginia Beach, That was my daily route in a 24ft. box truck. I'm considering going to
school for my cdl but have been hitting walls trying to get in a decent school. The one school here in Maryland that's somewhat close to home is the College of Southern Maryland but I was
unable to get a grant to pay for it. I spoke with the WIA people and they were no help at all. If any of you veterans or newbies have any advice I'm all ears. Thanks!!
New guy saying hello!

May have to go with a trucking company CDL school.
There's some good ones out there.
Millis Transfer - one of the best; need $500.00 for tuition.
Roehl Transport - good company to start out with. They may charge $500.00 tuition; not sure if they still do.
JBS Carriers and Schneider sometimes front the money for private CDL school, then you work there a year.
Southern Refrigerated Transport - pays transportation to Texarkana where you attend University of Arkansas Community College CDL school. They pay for the school plus a room at the Clarion Hotel and some meals.
Some others are:
Prime Inc.
Swift
Celadon
Midwest-coast Transport -
If you can swing the time away try a large trucking company that has it's own In house training dept.

Thanks for the info guys! I will look into those companies. I see there is a lot that will offer training, it gets a little overwhelming trying to choose the right one.
