I got that little speech ONCE.
I was told that if I wanted to be home a week, after staying out for 6 weeks to "earn the time", that i would have to park it on the yard and should "clean my stuff out" cause it would be used by someone else.
So I did.
I parked it on yard, cleaned my stuff out, and told them they could stick their job in their "ear".
Had another job in under 10 days.
new hometime policy?

Paper I signed back when I started said I get 1 day off for every 7 I'm out, and if I go home for 5 or more days, I have to turn the truck in. Thats the rule I've gone by ever since. Last load before hometime, when I fill out my e-call, the PTA I put in there is for the day I want to come back out. I generally stay out 4-5 weeks at a stretch, so I set my PTA for 4 days later, and message my DM to override the computer when it kicks back the PTA. No one has ever told me I have to turn my truck in for hometime. Now its possible, different rules for different terminals, but this kinda sounds like a "trucker story" to me

I have read the policy is 3 weeks out 3 days off (or less)....you stay out 6 weeks or four weeks you do not get 6 or 4 days off...at least not without the consequences (maybe losing your sled)....it is written policy that you signed off on when you employed with Swift....seems pretty simple to understand to me...so why all the confusion from peeps? Has anybody ever read the drivers manual that they give you? Almost every topic on this dfdorum is covered in that blue folder....the way to plkay the game is to know the rules...this is a tuff game and sissies are gonna crumble and cry...man up....just sayin'

if this is different terminals, this is something that I am going to have to ask my recruitter about when talk to him next week. Since Columbus is where I am going to be out of and they are short of trucks right now. Might just have to stay out for 1 month, get my 10K miles, then find my lease truck

Like the recruiter is going to tell you the truth! There is that nice silver 780 Volvo up there in the "for sale" lot.
Hamshoe and Dracon I know what the blue book says. Evidently the rule book doesn't matter.
If I had to turn in my truck then wait several days to get another? Fuggit! I am looking for another job. I live in my truck got everything the way I like it. It is a non smoking truck. I won't roll in a frikken ashtray and clean it up on my down time just to give the thing away!
IMO these are the actions of a company that is struggling to survive. All the other things that have come down the pike.
"please stay out one more day a month. Run an extra 109mi. a week."
Get your lazy planners to put away their I phones, and laptops, get off face book and youtube and do your job!
Recent orientation comment in Greer, "if you don't run 10,000 mii a month we'll replace you."
It's not hard to run 2500mi a week. Just need the loads.
BTW you got the turn in your truck confirmation from the highest authority! Texas Nana

since nobody else claims to have heard of this new policy, i am going to chalk it up to the dm of the hour having p.m.s. next time i am home i will pretend i have not heard of this policy and see what the next dm of the hour says.

MAN!! you guys need to find another co.! I take at least 2 weeks off a year and NEVER turn my truck in. I could understand doing that if your gone for weeks at a time but even still it should be on a case by case basis. I'm planning 4-5 wks in the spring and no one's said a word about turning her in

Honestly,
I have no problem driving to the terminal in Ocala if that is the case. I am darn lucky to have a chance at getting on with Swift.
