New HOS rules?

    I mean really...30 Minutes is going to ''break'' the bank..?...Think about that for a second...If drivers are worried about 30 minutes then there is something wrong....Most of us take a dump for 30 minutes while reading the paper at the TA....:biggrin_2556:

    I dont understand why any time issues are a worry (except for the 14 hr rule that is) ... maybe I'm just new, maybe I like to run legal ... but even if you run 10 on 10 off .. there's only 24 hrs in a day right???

    Someone please correct me if Im wrong

    The reason is much much deeper.It has nothing to do with the ''clock'' or 30 mins..It has everything to do with the time they signed on with the company...Many of them were doomed from the start...

    So now the driver is worried about every single second because he/she needs them seconds to make a few more pennies...Do you see.?.I no many guys that work 10 hours a day 5 days a week and make 100,000 a year...They are not sweating the small stuff..

    You can trace the ''issue'' back to the SELECTION PROCESS...

    me personally, i hate the 14 clock. and yes, you pressure for time.

    not a big deal when your not being pressured to make the run and pick up your next run.

    there's absolutely no reason for the hos rules. drivers should be allowed to eat, sleep, crap, and drive at there convenience. not be controlled with a clock. and jeopardizing safety.

    Considering the guy is talking about a dedicated run I don't see how the pennies will change. The only difference will likely be that he/she gets back home a little later and/or starts the run a little earlier.

    Dont we all hate it!!! ... but that's why I say there's only 24 hrs in a day cause there's so much you can do with that darn 14 hr rule ... you either drive your 10/11 or waste it waiting at the shipper, receiver, shop etc etc ... Im getting to understand why a lot of old timers hate the new rules ...

    The reason we hate the ''rules'' is simple....We had to make a living and support our families..We were forced to run outlaw,not for GREED but for survival...To make a good buck with inflation,truckers have to run outlaw.....It seems like the TOP GOVERNMENT boys don't want us to make ''good'' money....

    when i started driving. there was no 14. it was 10/15/70. with an 8 hour break. and you could split your 10 drive and 8 break. there was no pressure for a clock that can't be stopped. but you also didn't have the 34 reset.

    adding the 34 was a nice addition instead of having to do recaps. but the rest of the rules are just flat out STUPID. and instead of fixing it. they decided that a 30 minute break should suffice. and extended the 34 in the point that they've ruined THAT also.

    morons need to go back in time. and leave what wasn't broken in the first place. ALONE.
