As a matter of fact , I just may assume the guy behind me at the fuel island needs a 30 minute break , too. So , if I take my time, I am helping him get a break too. It's called being concerned for my fellow driver. PS: I'll be in the restaurant if you wanna chat a while.

i work 12 hr shifts and we get paid by the e-logs. so now the co is going to put another option on the duty choices it will be called "off-duty with pay" and we have to take it between our 4th and 8th hours. they seem upset that they have to pay for us to do nothing . so the new rule wont hurt me at all but imo this rule did not take shift drivers into consideration happy trails ,

Long before i turn the key i have this all in writing..I go over every aspect of the ''LOAD'' before i committ to the ''JOB''.Just like every other business does....And of course it is all in WRITING.!!!!!....NO MORE HAND SHAKES WITH ME...

If the broker/agent gets upset with me because of all my questions and criteria, then chances are they are trying to screw me..So i move on to another load...

You know ... I was thinking (I know bad idea) and I don't know if someone already said this or not but it would be best to take your obligatory 30 min break between ure 6th and 8th hour after coming on-duty due to the 14hr law ... If you take it at ure 5:45hr after getting on duty your 14 will now become a 13hr n 45 min rule ...

Thanks for letting me share guys!

The 14 is the 14 ... the 30 minute break will have no impact on it.

as per FMCSA website - http://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/rules-regulations/administration/fmcsr/fmcsrruletext.aspx?reg=395.3

which to my humble understanding means you cant drive after 8hrs if you haven't taken AT LEAST a 30min break

They never mentioned that the 30min break could not be during the 10hour break you took before going back on duty or driving ;-)

That's exactly right, and that's why I think there should be an exemption for local drivers, - a different set of HOS regs.
