if I had a factory all I would do is hire truck drivers. All I would have to do is pay them $10 an hour. They would never ask for a pay raise. Because when they want more money they will asked for more hours. You never hear drivers talk about we need to get paid more they just want more miles.
In a truck for decades with no restart and I never went broke. And now you have to take a 30 min. break after eight hours of work. And everybody has their shorts and a bunch over it. In any other business if you told your employees that they could not have a break until they work eight hours they would go on strike. In trucking it's just the opposite.
Maybe I'm just getting old but like I say if I can't make a living working 14 hours a day I better quit now. And if I have to take a 30 min. lunch break after working 8 hours so be it.
I know a lot of the super truckers will disagree with me. But just my two cents.
New HOS....yep

I am not sure I understood exactly what your getting at
but if I am right
trying to run with another truck not on the same hours as you adds another whole layer to trip planning that has nothing to do with HOS
and if your off more then 24 hours you can recap and not do a reset anyway
I would only consider doing a reset where I get to pick where and not sit in some smelly TS parking lot for 34-48 hours
I at least need to pretend I am in control over my destiny -
We run the same route when we go out. It is not unusual for us to have deliveries the same place and route. I have sat when it takes longer than 24 hours to get any hours back. You might only get 4 hours.
When we run to Canada, we run together in case of breakdowns.
The point is that rather than sitting in a country with no internet, high phone cost, high food cost, you could plan a quick 34 and allow you to make the entire run and be in the states rather than Canada.
Not hard to figure it. 2000 miles out and then the trip back. -
I know that it is not geared toward safety. But that is reason they use....
And me taking one week off has nothing to do with the new HOS. I planned on taking the Holiday off anyway. The last paragraph was merely a joke...

Okay, is it 8hours combined of on duty and driving or just 8 hours of driving?
-
8 hours from the last break.
-
Just think of you 14 hour clock . You can't drive 8 hours after it starts without taking a 30 minute break . Take a break 6 or more hours after you start and you can have the rest of the 14 without a 30 minute break .Roadmedic, jxu417, sarge26044 and 1 other person Thank this.

Lahood and Ferro had to be appointed by elected officials . I can't give a clear explanation of who and why Ferro's appointment was delayed but it required an agreement to review HOS .

It surprised me when Obama appointed LaHood.
He never did like trucks even when he was a state representative.
