You're biggest risk will be getting a good driver. One knucklehead can ruin you. And be sure to incorperate/llc, so you can't be sued for your personal assets.

However, one place to look into is National Carriers. I hear they get you the driver and send half the take to the driver and half to you. Of course you have to pay for the truck, maintenance, and repairs out of yours.

I work for national and right now we are pulling for $1.15 a mile and thats including the fsc!

check out Pacer Transport, out of Desoto. A friend of mine did exactly what you are thinking of doing, and he is doing fine. there are plenty of drivers available, just make sure you pick a good one, maybe one familiar with Pacer, or whatever company you choose.

Check out pacers first quater reports on the web. They only lost like 150 million ..
Taking money from a 401k is stupid, you pay a penalty plus taxes, you lose like 40%.
