Note that a lot of the recommendations given above will require ALL the CDL endorsements: tanker, hazmat....AND doubles/triples.
I would recommend you go ahead, and get all of them--that's where the real money is...in most cases....within the trucking industry.
If you instead decide to go the tanker route--go ahead and get a TWIC card, too.
A TWIC card was instrumental with helping me get the tanker job I have now (I haul fuel--& home daily).

NM is awful. I lived out there for the worst year of my life. Job wise, if it’s local to that area, it’ll probably revolve around farming or oil. Just look online at job websites.
