Yes another Marylander (or former) that understands. I actually tried to move to Colorado and my house wouldn’t sell here in Maryland. I work in west BALTIMORE for work everyday, deal with enough of Maryland. Wish I was far out in the mountains somewhere for sure. Was making 6 figures at Bge and now back making much less but still paying for a 6 figure house.
Either way a lot of trucking companies to consider. Thanks for all the information
I Definitely won’t accept low ball mileage rates. Simply can’t afford it.
Thanks for all the information. A lot to process for sure.

Generally the companies that keep you out for weeks "promise" to give you 1 day home for each week you are gone. I've never had to be gone more than 1 week at a time and always got 1-2 days home. But the a few things newbies do is try as hard as possible to make a quick decision, consider Mega A or Mega B, and then sign on to some shirty company like CRST or Western Express. I suspect most newbies were abused and don't think they deserve more than slave wages and broken trucks. They sure won't call more than 4 phone numbers before making a bad decision.

In Colorado, Dairy Farmers of America pays pretty good.

Getting paid 99 cents per mile sounds great. Make sure to speak to current working drivers at the company you are considering and make sure they are doing the work you are considering. It doesn't help to know the boss's nephew is on some cushy dedicated run and you are being put on a Dollar Store account that pays big CPM but you only get 1800 miles per week and you will be fired within 1 year for having your third backing accident in a postage stamp store's parking lot.

    Miles + CPM = Pay
Ignore "averages" and claims of "Up To X miles or $ per week." Those are dishonest and newbies think they are promises. They are not.

How would you try to talk to the other drivers? That is the best source. Also I understand that situation, don’t want to ask the company to talk to someone in the field because they’ll give you who they want to give you. Is there a way to know how many miles you might get? The current job I’m working at right now says I’d be able to make 50-60 hrs a week (gas work) and only did 33 this week because apparently you will melt if it rains.. thanks for the advice

I’m actually in Maryland, stuck for awhile until I get the right amount of equity back in the house to sell it. Moved back from good ol Colorado. Looks like an interesting company though for sure

I posted those because you said you'd like to move to Colorado.

Yeah it sure can, on the wrong end of the curve ball but that was the goal once and will be again one day. Thank you for that
