Now your getting it. If you got a tight time schedule on a load then rush when the opportunity to is safe otherwise why waste the gas. Oh also if you don't have or want to pay for an APU you can get an inverter generator and a home portable ac ac unit for the summer time. Just mount the generator to your truck and run a cord to your shore power plug for the truck. That way it will run everything. If you don't have a shore power plug then just run the cord in to the cab. One of our guys got a predator generator from harbor freight and a ac unit from home Depot. Ran him just under a grand for everything. Much better then several thousand for an APU.

I dont have an Apu, yet. I'm looking at them though. I'm torn between the trip pac and carrier units. I'm leaning towards the carrier as it has a 6000 watt generator, in addition to the alternator. What do you think?

What do you think about getting my tanks full at the start of the week and as I use fuel, just get what I need and maybe a little extra?
-
I think you need to look at owners manual and verify the operating range for your engine. 1000 rpm sounds too low.

That is what the data plate on the engine said.

I can post a pic of it when I shut down for my ten hour break if needs be. I think I have X15 efficiency series. All I can say is that I have a 26000 lb load going from Irvington AL to Seymour IN for a total of 918 miles including the mileage for going to pick up to load and at a 63 mph average I'm netting about 8.7 mpg. Is that good or can it be improved?Dave_in_AZ Thanks this.

No ... Don't worry about weeks ... You're not running for a paycheck .... You're ruining for cash flow. When you receive the cash is irrelevant.
Fill up where fuel is cheap, sip where fuel is expensive, if you have to ... Even if you have a half tank, if you are where fuel is cheap and going where it's expensive, top off your tanks.dtj12231989 Thanks this. -
No that's excellent. But lugging your engine is not.bzinger Thanks this.

my engine plate said the same.. 60 mph is 1,200 rpm

When you checking your fuel mileage you will find your mileage change from 1 truck stop chain.
For me Loves is the cheapest in the dallas/ft worth metro area but I never get fuel there because my fuel mileage drops .04 mpg... cheaper is not always cheaper.. track your fuel mileage...!
I started using the "lets truck" app in 2011. When I got my 1st truck. For this truck I track BOTH fuel AND def
