You are wrong. Plain and simple. The rating system isn't always right, many times it's too high/low. Sending them in takes hours and sometimes days to get an answer back. Learn how to quote OD/platform and be self sufficient. We don't need lazy agents around here. We have enough of them. We need people who know what they are doing and are invested in doing it the right way the first time.

Post trucks on loadboards you don't have to try and shark freight. Getting permission to post a driver's truck or being asked to do so is one thing. Blatantly posting a "ghost truck" in hopes someone will call you with a last minute load shows a lack of professionalism and talent for the job. Get your own customers and network with the BCO's. Get involved on our LinkedIn page, on the facebook pages, on the BCO Forum and this forum. Network, network, NETWORK! Feel free to get in touch with me if you have any questions. I'm always willing to help when I can.

It's not double brokering if you put it on a Landstar BCO, nor if you have a "co-broker" agreement signed with your broker customer. Steer clear of CHR and other cheap freight. Go network with people. There are 3PL's all over the place.

Not Funny, needed to get out of there! I have to admit Adams frieght may not always work and may not be the best rates , but he stays in contact with me, post my truck and lets me know whats out there. Contact and relations are the best buisness tool you can have. an informed soldier is a happy soldier!

Good evening,Dogcatcher, I just read your messages, and I'm a bit surprised. I've communicated with you about when you were going to be empty and where. As of now, (it's midnight Eastern time) on Sunday morning, I don't have a load that fits your rate guidelines. You said you don't work cheap, and that's all I've seen. I made the assumption that you wouldn't want brokers calling you to tell you when they don't have freight. When I offered to try to help, I didn't know that I was obligating myself to find a load for you. I certainly didn't know that I was establishing a relationship in which you would make demands and I would have to fill them. Do other agents spend their days calling drivers when they don't have loads? Do you call every agent you work with once you book a load...so that they know the marching orders have changed? Am I wrong in thinking your message was quite rude and out of line? I will work my butt of for anyone I can help, but I will not work with someone who is so unprofessional as to give me a size 20 font headline, calling me a failure for not finding a $4.00 per mile load out of GA. Best of luck to you.

Your trying to sell a product! Why should I book with you? What sets you aside from the other multiple agencies out there? Im a hard person, I speak whats on my mind! You said in your fisrt post what will make me a better AGENT? Well im telling you! CONTACT! You (use as general) excpect us to call you and keep in contact with you once we have a load on, need updates and progress reports, which I do probly call my agents to much once I have a load on. Thats what we expect back, pick the phone up and say hey this is where I'm at, you asked but I cant meet your goals, theres a good load but its a 350 mile dead head. This is not uncommon with heavy haul a 300 mile dead head.

Welcome to the "School of Hard Knocks" Marc... You'll learn by failure more so than success. The biggest thing, if you give someone your word, do your best to keep it. If you can't call them back the next day and apologize. They'll usually understand. You are one of I'm sure many drivers who thought this side of the telephone was easy and you're quickly learning it's not all sunshine and roses. There's A LOT of work involved in building a successful agency and there's A LOT of FAILURE. You'll have more doors shut in your face as an agent then anywhere else I've ever experienced. People who previous agents have burned, people who are happy with the service they have, people who will let you bid, award you freight and then never answer your calls or emails. It's a never ending battle.

Learn from this, and try to improve. I'm not saying DC is 100% right in everything he says or the way he went about it, but listen to what he's saying. Let me know if I can help you in any way.
