https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9zZ4UKZgqss Here's a great song by Collective Soul, "Run". It just seems to fit with getting your own truck, since its going to be a long term relationship. Just remember to skip the stupid ad by google.
I'm a Prostitute. I sell my body and time to the high bidder. I use a Tractor & Trailer as my tools. Everyone sells themselves, Some just go home every night.
Sorry, but I have to disagree, I love the life I live. True, at times, many times actually I haven't called this living at all. But I have come to accept it as my life, and live it to the fullest each day as best I can. I feel I belong where I am, and when not doing this, I am misplaced or out of place. To where I feel I don't belong in normal society, but instead in the job or vocation in which I have. I thank god everyday of my life for the job I have, the work I do, and the blessings he has gave me. Your of course right to a degree, we all do sell ourselves. But still, I wouldn't wish my life on no body, not even my worst enemy. But I love it and wouldn't trade it for the world, and there is nothing else in this world that I would rather do more, than what I already do. We all trade our time for money. I go to walmarts, I give them the equivalent of the time I traded in the form of my money, and they in return do the same for me, with merchandize and services. And no, I don't think your very sincere in your statement about being a prostitute either. Because if you were, you would be something else, making so much more, than what we are making now. So lets face it, maybe you love and are proud of being a trucker too? Just as I am, and I'll always be.
When your lease is up in six months and decide to give it up. You could always start with willie Nelson's on the road again! As a company driver.
good luck and hope it works out for you! I looked into info on being an o/o, I talked with some of the instructors at the Swift Academy and even a couple of them told me not to get into a lease since you wont make as much money as people think, only way they said to make much these days is driving teams and if the truck breaks down its your wallet coming out not Swifts. I was told the lease trucks start at around $650 a week, how much do you have to spend if I may ask? Also have you gotten any information on any perks from Swift? I was told you can get cheaper fuel but I dont know much. I am just about to go out with a mentor so I have time before I decide to do anything.
It would not surprise me since they make a lot more money being a mentor plus have a few less limitations such as the governed speeds etc but I would like to know for the others out in the world who are not a mentor and have to worry more about cost and stuff. And thanks, I have been wanting to be a driver since I was very little, both my parents were drivers and a few others in the family. Ex wife wouldnt let me since they were scared of the "lot lizards" and me being gone all the time, current wife supports it and told me to go for it so I finally did.
