    THANK YOU!!! FOR YOUR POST.

I grow weary of those that post about being a L/O or O/O that have never done it because "they know" all about it. I cannot give a lecture on the pains of child birth. I have witnessed it, have a vague understanding of how bad it hurts, but I cannot truly offer a valid, correct and educated opinion about it. I can give you 2nd and 3rd hand references about how bad someone else said it was...however they may be exaggerating for the sake of getting attention. There specific stories about how bad or good do not make me an expert because I heard the stories.

I am relatively sure that things are going to work out for the best. We shall see....

    Go forth... and sail.

Well, until that one unexpected expense - that rock you didn't see in the mist - sinks you.

All is possible... if you only believe... through the Lord... etc.

Yet, not all is possible to those that believe.

Hope can only get you so far.
Faith can only get you so far.

After that, it is a crap shoot.
And the odds are never in your favor.
Which means it is blind luck.

And need I remind anyone - Pride goeth before the fall.
"Its a captain and the ship he sails on. That ship either makes it and goes on, or sinks and he goes down with it. But either sun or rain, feast or famine, good and bad, that ship is his constant companion, and with heart, soul and determination, that ship is going to sail him to many new ports and back home again."

    Wow.
Pride, faith and hope not only in oneself, but in a dead object - both subject to the storms of life, ecology and physics.
Not to mention the business aspects of working for a company that intends to make more money for itself than it intends to share with anyone.

Those of us that are in this program already post here all the time, and as far as I know, very successfull. You ever notice, those that have failed, have never said a word here. Ohhh, yes, we always hear from the naysayers, but then again, they have never been here and done it. And like Mystic said, why are they even talking about it during school. They can learn pretty much about it from looking at the web site, and get an idea what career they might have ahead of them. But first, take the baby step. Anyone that asks me, I tell them, be with the company for a little while as a company driver and learn what you can if fresh out of school, and if they are experienced, then I will tell them something entirely different.

I'll risk it...... Pride not withstanding, nothing worth achieving is ever easy. I will live or die by my own hand,my own efforts...and weather i succeed or fail, sometimes its the journey that is its own reward.

And what a journey it is.

Pride I don't see, Faith, Belief and Hope, yep!

What would life be, if living in those dark places was all we ever could see?

So,after a little research, this is what I've figured out with regard to Swifts L/O fuel program. Correct me where I'm wrong.

You purchase fuel anywhere the comdata card is accepted.
Swift then deducts this amount from your settlement.

Do you pay the price posted at the pump?

Swift keeps track of the miles you drive in various states, then deducts the appropriate amount of fuel taxes owed to each state from your settlement.

Swift then pays you your CPM + a part of your fuel costs back.

This fuel rebate appears to vary. What factors contribute to the amount of this fuel surcharge?

They claim that its based on a national average of fuel costs, and the FSC is usually in the 40 cent per loaded mile range, this week its about 43 cents/mi. The theory behind it is to lower the overall cost of a gallon of fuel to around $1.07 or something close to that per gallon.

I am sure that there are others who know exactly what the numbers are, but these are close.

    Hope this helps.

You will pay the posted cash price at the pump. Swift does not pass on any savings. Most of us have found that using the small little mom and pop places, can save alot. Example, this morning I was at a Peelot in Bloomiington, $3.99. Stopped at a place just before the line for IN, and the price was $3.69.

As far as the fuel taxes, that is done at the end of period. I have never figured out when. Alot of times if you fuel in different states along the way, sometimes only a about 50 gals here and 50 gals there, then you can take care of lots of taxes. Like if during the beginning of the pay week and you are in IL, top them off. Same if you are at the Fontana yard.
