Hey thanks Roberts450, yeah that "Will pair SB" box has been marked/checked since the ELD did the new update a week or so ago, whenever it did the new update for the new HOS. It still doesn't update the HOS if you do the 2, 3 or 7 hour break. Yes I checked last night - My ELD is not updating the HOS if you take the 7 hour sleeper birth break first. It only updates it at 8 hours and 10 hours, just like before. EDIT: Also forgot to mention my ELD screen looks EXACTLY like the one in your picture Roberts450. With the box checked and everything, we must have the same one Omnitracs Qualcomm.
Omnitracks QC at Western Express. Theres a checkbox for "will split SB." With this checked it updates automatically after a 2hr break to freeze clock where it wad when the break started. Done 2/8, 3/7 and 7/3 like this thus far. No calls from logs yet!
Anyone give guidance on what I did wrong? I was going to be about an hour and 15 minutes shy of a pilots to stop before continuing, so I found a safe stop. Clicked will pair sb and slept for 3.5 hours. Drove, didn’t get the normal FMCSA warnings. Slept for over 7 hours. But time is still showing I need 2.5 more hours in birth to complete my reset… any help would be appreciated
To me it could be disregarding the split as you would have still broken the 14 hour rule even with the pause, so it's not seeing the split as valid and wanting a full 10 to get back to being valid. Start of the day: 8:45 am. This means the 14 without a split would be at 10:45 pm. You took a sleeper berth of 3.5 hours, so the 14 is extended to 2:15am. You were on duty and driving until 3:00 am. Basically there is no way to make your clock legal at that point and need to do a full 10 to get legal.
I really appreciate you. I just didn’t want to be on the side of the road with no service in the mountains, thought I had calculated everything properly. so if I had originally split slept for 4.5 hours instead of 3.5, that would’ve made the clock legal, correct?
Well since you messed up the split, you are actually over by 4.25 hours. That's a major violation if it gets noticed in the next 7 days. Yes, or stopped 45 minutes earlier, or several other possible solutions I can't commit on as I don't know the situation. You would have still had to take 7 in the sleeper, even with the 4.5 as that's the minimum needed for the sleeper portion of a split.
