hay guys we recently got a new bulldozer on our farm that we need to be able to move we are looking for a good lowboy trailer the most it would haul is 24000 pounds the current truck we have is a Freightliner m2 with a c10 I don’t know if that will be able to haul it we have looked at a few Pete’s and kenworth trucks I’m wondering what might also be a good wheelbase and if I can haul it with a single or need a double axle this will not be used all the time we live in Georgia if that matters I know this is a lot but we are not sure we’re to go.

How far are you moving it?
-
It will be around 80 miles 1 way.
-
One time, or quite a few times? If just once or twice a year, that little Cat should handle it, I would think. And I would see about just renting a trailer, if it is not going to be a regular thing.
-
It’s going to be probably once or twice a month thanks.
-
Also will a rgn work with a single axle truck? We have other equipment that we will be transporting we just don’t have anything that heavy or should we look at a fixed neck with ramps thanks.
-
If so, and you don't plan in the near future to purchase any other equipment did you consider a tag trailer?
EZ 2 Load "BWS" makes a nice 25 ton tag trailer that air tilts and has air ramps, its such a good and safe design that Talbert copied it but sells for much more.
I owned a fixed neck Hyster 30 ton with rear ramps years ago and when its wet or icy "i know Georgia doesn't get ice" it can get tricky loading over the tires and up those short ramps.
A detachable should work with a single axle as long as the frame is long enough behind the fifth wheel for a non ground bearing type.
You didn't mention new or used, if used make sure its 8'6" wide, and if your not sure of a manufacturer or model look on Truck Paper, it will help if someone in this thread directs you to a certain brand or type of trailer.
Good Luck!Lepton1 Thanks this. -
You can haul it with a single axle truck and even a single axle trailer if you wish. I'd personally look for one of those old Phelan type trailers, single drop with dove tail and ramps. They can be had cheap and more than enough trailer to move a 24K dozer every now and then.

If so and you have time hawk the internet, look for a tractor that is true pre emissions, 2003 and under that is in good clean condition with low miles, they are out there but it takes time to find one because of the demand.
Lowboy brands are many, i would only refer you the options, air ride and non ground bearing should be a priority.
