I see not many of these posts get replys but figured i might as well since im new to this forum, new to trucking alltogether. I got my cdl a thru a school shortly after highschool but by age and experience I couldn't find some one to hire locally, also factoring I didn't want to go over the road. Kept trying for straight jobs also to build some type of experience. Finally got a call from a pretty big local trucking outfit, found out it was to offer me a job driving refered box trucks w/ liftgates over night delivering baked goods. Did that for a little over a year, actually a pretty nice gig but gets old, same routes, same stores night after night but it got my foot in the door started training 1 day a week with semis for a few months and now I'm there! Day cab local work exactly what I had been looking for van and flatbed mixed. Biggest thing for me so far is being so used to driving at night with no traffic only in the great state of maine/ a little nh and now with taking loads down to mass.. Talk about a different world!

Welcome aboard! Are you generally only driving in Maine, or will they start sending you down into Boston/CT/NYC/NJ after you get some time under your belt?

I will end up in Boston and ct some, not so much NYC or nj I think that's a bit to far to turn in a legal days hours. I just got back from a delivery in Pittsfield mass today and only had 1:30 left of drive time and it was pretty smooth sailing
