And the doctors also have to be registered with FMCSA.
When you go for a physical, they enter you in their system. Fail the physical, you still get entered. This is going to stop doctor shopping.

 

I counted at least 25 of them. He was out back smoking a cigarette.

But it never hurts to bring it forward until the deadline. There are many out there still unaware of the rules. I guarantee you there will be handful get their licenses degraded and they'll have to go fix it 2/1/14. This is BS, I never heard of this!

 

Florida gave me an option to email me a reminder or call me when it was time for me to renew.

 

I got my CDL A back on 2009.. However, have not been driving for the last few years.. I got the notice in the mail, but didn't do anything with it since I was not driving.. well, then months master I get a letter from my insurance company that my license had been cancelled.. not suspended, revoked or anything like that.. cancelled..
Called the DMV.. all I had to do was go get a DOT physical and then take the card to the DMV.. they entered some info in their computer and photo copied my card and that was it.. other than the cost of the physical the gas to drive around and a cup of coffee.. it didn't cost anything.. the cancellation was lifted and all is good..

I would not have let it slip if I had been out driving.. where a current DOT Medical Card would be required..I let mine slip because I wasn't driving so no card needed.. so I thought, If you hold a CDL, driving a truck or not, your license will be cancelled if you do not respond to the notice..

I didn't have to get the physical, I could of gone to the DMV and put my status in a category that a med card is not needed... But, I knew I would pass the physical and so I went all the way with it..

 

I think you might have a problem here.

Since the feds are requiring this to be documented and electronically available by the end of January 2014, you might have issues.

You will have to be supplying them a medical card sometime before that date. I know of no medical card valid for longer than 2 years.

 

All they have to do is open their eyes. I see many of them weekly that go on.
