Not necessarily. I had my lil'wil tuned for my wifes car and I used to remove it an only use it when we went on trips. The tuning hardly changed from spot to spot only very slightly and definitely not enough to re-tune it. I'm guessing from the sounds of it he has a pinched coax that is now exposed with that high of a spike in swr or he doesn't really know how to check them.

outerspacehillbilly you say that I may have a pinched coax, now I did run the antenna coax from the roof of my pickup through the sliding back window and shut it. Is that a possibility and what would it look like if I were to go check?

Yes it's possible. Just look over your coax real good and look for any bare wire showing through where the shield may have been cut or slit open. The least little damage to the outer shielding would very easily cause the problem you describe.

    YEARS AGO ....

I worked for STPete PD and one officer came in with a radio he said was FLAKLY .....

It worked just fine UNTILL you moved the front seat and then it went bonkers .... The seat guide had cut a slice out of the coax and in just the right spot it SHORTED the coax and move it just a TAD made a exact splice hooking it back up again ...... :biggrin_25510:

You got to love those days .....
