New member - specific interest in heavy hauling

I work for a port and am trying to encourage local legislation to adopt a local street ordinance to allow for GVW of 98,000 lbs to be carried on common chassis rather than on supers.

Local drayage drivers are sometimes given citiations for exceeding the 80,000 lb limits but I have found that many do not actually know what the weight of a container is when picking up from an international marine terminal. The dray is less than a mile from marine terminal to rail head in an industrial corridor. Hopefully my work will allow heavier loads on these streets.

I have found that super chassis are often times more damaging than regular ones in that the extra tires tend to grind the road surfaces when turning. Is this your experience? Do tires on super chassis wear out unevenly?
