I don't know how much you will have to change, going from the 892 to the 12.7, but it should be available, as 12.7's were available in them.
I have been trying to trade a guy out of a pete CO, that has a fresh dd1V just to cut up and use the components.

Thanks for the post. Your truck looks amazing for its age. Not much help on that swap here. You know the new engine is longer. The rear mounts and trans will be farther back. Unless you can buy a wreck that came that way it is the little stuff that kills you. Fan hub height is wrong. Air intake and exhaust connections. It can go on and on. I would not touch that unless you are a master fabricator and or have a lot of money.

The last swap I did was a M11 mechanical for an L10. Piece of cake because they are true sisters right. No it went way wrong.
It appears M11's were never made as an internally balanced engine. The crankshaft snouts are different lengths so the parts would not swap over. The externally balanced engine would not clear the front engine cross member. The M11 was high flow cooling and the truck is low flow. KIMG1356 (1).jpeg
You have as many but different hurtles to jump. It would be a really nice truck if you can get it done. That truck was probably geared for the 55 MPH national speed limit. That was with an engine that likes to run around 2300 RPM. When you replace it with an engine that likes 1500 RPM and the speed limit is 70 you have a new problem.

Ok, that is good as good to hear as disheartening. With that out of the way would a b model cat be the same or? I am very aware that this is a long haul project, in time material and patience. I considered buying a modern wreck for rears and trans for a close to direct drive cruiser on the interstate, it's just what direction to go, and to stay away from the ELD when repowering, thanks again for your time and help

The 892 will be high flow, butif memory serves me right, it has 2 radiator hoses instead of one. That in itself in not a big deal, I have welded them up and welded outlets on the other side for different applications before. You will likely have some modifications to do in the radiator area due to needing the air to air cooler.

check those gears, we had lots of triple digit trucks during that national 55 period, just cuz they said 55 didn't mean we had to run it.

The B would be much easier. Get your rear axle ratio, transmission final drive ratio and tire size. Run that on line under something like road speed calculator. If you don't like what you have a 9 over or 13 speed maybe in order. Some times it is less expensive to buy a whole truck in the long run.
