Thanks. I did quite a bit of research and Stevens seems to be a good option particularly for the training. I understand they really expect a lot from their drivers and the training serves them well in their careers.

Nice! Knowing my family is out on the road..

You might consider Dutchmaid they're in Ohio and they used to do their own training, not sure if they still do.
hoosiergirl Thanks this. -
KC Transportation in Piercton IN. hires newbies as well.
Chinatown Thanks this. -
Small paychecks though. I you have a pretty good job though, maybe you can deal with the small paychecks.Yes, by all reports, the training is excellent, but your husband is planning on private cdl school, so he doesn't need all that; he just needs a decent job.
In all fairness, what some consider low pay, others are content with. -
Looks good. Just checked the website:
4+ weeks of PAID training - $400/week while in school (housing, transport and meals except for lunch are not provided)
- When schooling is complete, on-the-road training with a driver trainer as described above takes about 6-8 weeks
- No experience necessary
- Hands on training with an experienced CDL holder
- After schooling is complete, train on the road with a KC driver trainer
- Must be willing to obtain a HAZMAT Endorsement
- Excellent MVR
Vic Firth and hoosiergirl Thank this. -
This looks very promising and one of the terminals is only 2 hours or less away.
Thanks-will definitely talk to recruiter tomorow. -
I only know of 2 companies that pay the students a salary while attending classes and they're KC Transportation and Roehl Transport. Roehl has a school in Gary. Roehl does hair follicle drug test.hoosiergirl Thanks this.

I might be mixing up the types of options but I'm not looking for schools that pay a salary but rather the best training option for him after he gets out of school. We are hoping to be approved for Workforce Development funds any day now to pay for the school to get his cdl. If not, we plan to come up with the funds ourselves so he has a little more flexibility to find a good company that is fairly close that will take new drivers and provide decent training before he goes solo.
