When I has a newbie right out of driving school I went to US xpress did team driving pulling a dry van and made real good money after taxes and insurance i was making around $1180-$1250 a week. Also get your hazmat. You will alwayssss make more money with team driving.

A few carriers that do training are CRST, Swift, US Xpress, Covenant, Millis, Roehl. At one time, Schneider offered driver training at one time. Most require a 1 year work commitment. CRST used to only have a 6 months training program. I think that I have heard the most positive feedback from those who have gone through Millis and Roehl. Any of them will assist you in getting your CDL. I would encourage you to get all of your endorsements when you take your CDL test. You probably won't need the passenger endorsement, but the others can help you in finding a good job.

you are quite welcome rob. yes, you can make more money as a team driver. i personally would never consider it unless i was going out with my wife, brother, or close friend. as a truck driver you live 24/7 for weeks at a time in a little metal box. i cant imagine sharing that tiny space with another grown man.

@BigRob379 - my 20 y/o son will ALSO be turning 21 in Feb, so "Happy B-Day" early (though he had the benefit of "no cost" auto/diesel tech training given I work at a trade school). @SimD & ricKstephens - my 26 y/o stepson is in an extremely similar situation to BigRob379 and the info you both provided will be helpful in pursuing a similar route for him. Wishing all of you a safe, prosperous, and Happy New Year by the way! - A

Not everyone is cut out for team driving. I tried it for a short time, and knew it wasn't for me when I spent every waking hour planning the perfect murder.
