i think schneider would be the best bet in your spot. they might require like a weeks training to see if your worthy. I think u jumped the gun in a few ways, but its not impossible. Keeping your truck running is a big issue, preventative maintenance...and the paperwork side of the house i think is big.... I have 4 yrs in and just bought my first truck last week, rebuilt the engine and im still a little shaky about puttin on the O/O shoes. Im a PM god, mechanically inclined, but totally suck with the paper work (taxes, pay, etc..), Good luck, ask lots of questions and keep in contact with some owner ops you meet that might be cool enough to help u threw some situations that may arise.. good luck

The ones that have posted advise you that the insurance and carriers will "avoid" you because the above issue. Now it's not impossible to do. You would need massive cash to startup. And your cousin with no experience (in driving)would be the hindrance. Since he doesn't know how to drive. You would need to train him. Maybe you can do some short runs on your own and "drag him along" so he see what the lifestyle is all about. Your insurance would be sky high.
Don't be discouraged. Do some more research. All of us want to "make it" in this business. But all of don't have the situation you have with a truck without a payment, free and clear. -
Ask different companies if they'll let you hire an experienced driver to run your truck ( team with him )while he trains you at the same time. You can run teams with him for a while and then when you're friend is ready after he finishes school he can team with you. Just an idea and it never hurts to ask. You shouldn't be teaming with your friend yet if both of you don't have any experience. At least one of you should have at least a year before you team.

More than likely, your best option is to park your truck and get some time and experience with a carrier.
I don't know of a company that you can lease onto with no experience. Most will want at a bare minimum 1year of experience, many want a couple.
You can get your own Authority, pull your own trailer, but insurance will be the kicker. Get in touch with Progressive FIRST, before you do anything else if you opt to go that route.Jarhed1964 Thanks this. -
Your not a O/O yet, your just an owner....... Man brother, you really should have researched a little bit more..LOL Not laughing at you just my post,,, anyway, like what was already said, the best you can do is hire on with one of the big companys that are taking rescent grads and get some time under your belt. I know SNI is hiring grads if they got there CDL from an accredited school and after 6mo's will allow you to go Independant. Other than that, get own authority.
Best of luck and keep us posted,

Hmmmmmm... Get 125 tickets printed, sell them at $1000.00 each and the winner get,s the truck. That's a good return for 2007 T2000.
On a serious note, I don't know of any insurance company take would be willing to take on the risk that you represent with no experience. -
I thought about doing the same but decided it wasnt going to be easy. If you paid cash for the truck just go drive for a company for a year. Progressive will insure you but only to a 500mile radius and at a high rate which will kill your pay. In my figures with a 500 mile radius and high insurance cost it would be pointless to run my own truck. I am going to drive a flatbed for a while save more money then do my own thing. Now if rates were paying well I would say go for it but they arent.

PharmPhail's insurance required him to stay within a 500mil radius (not that he did). Something else to consider. -
I agree. Spend a couple years driving as a Co driver. Keep track of all numbers (what the co is spending on fuel, tires, etc...). I don't think anyone is going to let you lease on right now.
