When the economy drops so does tanker and opendeck. Market health is often scoped by our industry as an indicator. Reefer, we’ll people gotta eat. Reefer trailers are limited and in demand. Reefer rates will not drop until more refer trailers are built and drivers that enjoy working odd shifts or enjoy many pick up and drops are pulling them. You do not have to put 50 k down to order a truck! Down payment for financing, sure! A few k down at dealer and that’s it. If they have worked with you in the past or know you mean business it’s less drama. Price gets locked in closer to build time. Stuff is way easier than most people make it out to be on this platform.
Everybody runs different, but for how I run, I'm spending 15k a month in fuel. The other costs are subjective, and fuel can be to a point. But I can't imagine someone being able to pay bills and get a paycheck spending 5k a month in fuel.
Definitely fellas, I understand! I average about 2000 miles a week @ 6 mpg, so I end up spending about $1,100 a week $ 3.30. I took that x 13 weeks for around $15k. But as far as I am concerned, THE MORE THE MERRIER!
Oil just hit $90 a barrel. Fuel is fixing to go up! How long will the 5.5 mpg non heavy haulers be able to compete if things get tight? Interesting times.
Since you ask. Lol. $2.50 per gal increase would cost Me $1500 more per mo. Running 12000 miles. Worst case scenario. 10k miles is more realistic. $1250 per mo. increase. A 50K Loan for 48mo. @10% interest is about $1250 per mo. I’d rather pay the fuel, than make a payment. Having a payment on a new one, for? $2400, $3000, is just crazy IMO. It better get 7.5 mpg. And stay out of the Shop. Warranty or not. The Truck has to run, to realize the fuel savings, to justify the pymt. Without considering resale ofcourse. In my case, resale is a non issue. Only total operating costs apply, and being free to walk away at any time, park or sell. Without being upside down. Nothing Lost.
I know there's alot of places in the USA that's it's more expensive than where I live so Iam just using my Home base fuel stop as example... 2 weeks ago I fueled up fuel was 3.19.9 Sunday I fueled it was 3.46..9.. and I was not happy.. I just fueled there now it's now 3.79.9... this pisses me off .50 a gallon in 12 days And to think 2 years ago for a few short days oil traded for a negative price per barrel on the stock market but then stabilized and traded in the 20.00 per barrel range for along time My how times have changed ... Thanks Brandon
If someone is requiring 50% to order a truck you’re ordering something they think they can’t get rid of if you back out or you need to find a different dealer. I placed my order and held my spot for $1500. I’ve never heard of anyone having to put up $80-90k just to place an order.
Probably longer than the rest of the pack. Lots of expenses besides fuel. Yeah, my old truck gets 5.5. I don't have a truck payment, my insurance is cheap comparatively, the parts to fix my old stuff are cheap, my old truck is easy to fix, etc.
