@Tug Toy I commend your efforts. I don't feel so bad now. Bought my truck for $15K in November and it's been more problems than I care to say, other than by the time I get my truck out of the shop tomorrow I will have almost $30K in repairs and upgrades.

I don't have the wrenching skills necessary to do major work, but the upside is I can make money on drive away or team runs while the truck is in the shop.

I can pretty much identify with all this lol. I replaced every single piece of the suspension on my KW, as well as every brake shoe, S-cam & bushings, wheel seals, wheel bearings, shocks, all new slack adjusters, frame clamps, all new brake chambers, all new rubber air lines. That's just on the rear of the truck. I did a lot of work on the front too lol. I too do 100% of my own work. And I commend @Lepton1 and others for not giving up! It's tough I know but just keep pushing.

They said they were going to bill me 6 hours. I told them I would call the owner of the 11 branches on Monday morning. (Friend of my father in law) and work it out with him. Original estimate was for 1 to 1 1/2 hours. they told me it was done after 4 hours. Nope spedo still wrong..... still didn't have the mileage, hours or driver preferences in there. Drove back ant it took two hours to get the spedo right. Still no mileage or driver preferences.

What a joke!!! So an hour there, over 6 hours at the shop and an hour home and still not correct.

Yea these driverless trucks are going to put us all out of buissness! Lol

IMG_2090.JPG There is some sort of high temp coating on the manifold and hot side of the turbo. I was wondering as the were just sprayed with the regular red on the rest of the engine.

Here's one way I look at it as there are many ways to look at owning a truck. You spent about the same in the last year on that truck that you would've spent on payments on a new one. But now over the next couple years you should only spend money on maintenance & little repairs so you should spend way less over the next 2 years than 2 years worth of payments on a new truck. That's where the real savings of driving an older truck comes in. Of course you have spent a lot of your free time working on your truck & that has helped a lot. I don't think most drivers would do that which is why a lot of them go out of business when an older truck has this many problems in a year.

Most of them were things that I could have just kept driving the truck. I'm trying to be proventitive and fix things that were starting to ware and leak. I sure I could have done about $5k in repairs last year and been fine but truck would be in that much worse shape. I could of just thrown it away and bought another.

I wanted to get it reliable and comfortable and hope I can get a good 5 years out of her.

    We shall see???

I don't regret one single dollar I have spent on this truck. It would be great if I steel feel this way in 3 years.
