Trucking is easy for you or me. I don't even give trip planning much of a thought anymore. I intuitively know it from someone mentioning start and end points. Where I will fuel. That didn't happen overnight or even in 6 months. I started trucking in a time when there was no internet and hardly anyone had cell phones today's drivers have a huge leg up.
Anyways, I might check Google maps to see if my route is the quickest or shortest. But that hardly scratches the surface of issues a driver deals with on a routine basis. It takes time to become efficient doing routine trucking tasks. Some people may catch on quicker than others. Time management is everything. Even more so now that mandatory EOBR are upon us.
Someone that doesn't know what they don't know is at a disadvantage. That's just my opinion take it for what it's worth. A person should have the basics of trucking down like an old hat, second nature before jumping into the business side of it.

Dang!!! $4200 a month? That's absurd, is that just truck payments?
-
Well what does he haul? Who is he on with? 4200 truck and trailer?

To be a successful O/O 3-5 years business experience is definitely better than 3-5 years driving experience. The finer points of driving can be learned on the road. Try that in business and you'll find yourself in the same position as her ex.

If he is making 4500 a week, how can he be so bad off?
-
Grossing 4500 doesn't mean squat.snowman_w900 and Pete jockey Thank this.

4200 is insane. I wanted my own truck in the worst absolute way, but even I knew to not get in that bad. Waiting until you have the experience and some knowledge and making sure you can cover the nut is imperative.
