is lease to own a good option versus being just a sub contractor?

    Define sub contractor.
Basically a 1099 employee ? Or do you pay for fuel and the cost of the truck without the end result of owning it ?

It all comes down to what you want for your situation. If you are new to the industry, I say nay nay to both. Go be a company driver for a while first.
If your goal is truck ownership, then a lease option can (not always) be a way to see that.
This day and age, maybe it would be best to be with a mega as a company driver and just build that 401k
