New owner operator/No experience

    nice ! I’m new to this as well . Only had my cdl for less than a month with no experience and wanted to start my own authority. Does anyone have any recommendations on insurance .I’m 44 years old with a clean mvr and great credit.Progressive quoted me 67k for the year here in Florida

    The first thing I would say to you is I would not be buying an 18 year old reefer. Perhaps you don't know the difference because you're not really in this business but that is the highest insurance, the longest wait times, probably the biggest headaches in trucking that you're going to encounter, and on top of that loads often get rejected.

    That's not the place for an 18 year old trailer because if it fails... if you think your insurance was expensive to begin with, see what happens because your reefer stopped working and you lost a whole frozen food load because of it, and your insurance company and ultimately you is going to pay for it.

    There are some lessons in this business that will cost you more money than you could ever imagine. This is certainly not the only scenario, and it isn't only about reefers.
