My son drives 2 types of trucks. One under 10,000 GVWR the other one over 10,000 but less than 26,000 lbs. He has a Type C CDL with Hazmat Endorsement. The hazmat chemical is bleach in gallon jugs for commercial dishwashers in restaurants. He never loads over 1,000 lbs so he never needs placards. Does the new Hands Free Cell Phone Rule effect him driving the above described?

    Any help is appreciated.

the rule applies to CMV drivers. Holding a class C CDL , means this affects him too.

I don't care if you are driving a CMV, a Car, a Bike, a Horse and Buggy, if you feel the need to talk while you're driving get a hands free device. The phone call can wait otherwise, you have a responsibility to everyone on the road. Everyone needs to quit being to selfish and think of others.

very true, my employer doesnt allow any phone use while the truck is moving (not even with BlueTooth). Even Safety isnt allowed to call you while your driving. They have to QC you and ask you to stop and call them when you can.

The only person allowed to call us is the Owner of the company.

I'm cool with that, my company has no phone policy. We're writing one, but it sounds like were too worried that we might offend people if it's worded too strongly.

I can respect a company's policy regarding no cell phone use while the vehicle is in motion.

But why stop there? The CB is way more distracting/annoying then a cell phone...
