So if you are a lease operatorer are you allowed to take the truck you are making payments on to a dealership and have it turned up and whatever else you want done to it? I mean you are making the payments on it and doing the up keep and are kind of a owner operator aren't you? I'm just asking a question because I don't know the answer and I'm not trying to casue a arguement or bashing. I've kind of pondered the thought of this but I've never really seen to much positive feedback pertaining to leasing.

You can't take the tractor and have it turned up - part of that is because we're dispatched to Canada. But why would you want to? We're paid a percentage of the linehaul fee and fuel surcharge primarily - in other words off of our bottom line, not by the number of miles we turn over.

the slower you go the more money you save. if you stay out of the truck stops you can even at a 58 mph can go quite a distance during your shift.

So can you do other changes to the truck like adding things to the exterior or performance items like a pittsburgh diesel power box or f.a.s.s. system?

Although I haven't done a thorough reading of my lease for that particular issue, I'd guess that would be a "no." I understand that f.a.s.s. doesn't work well on the new high-pressure fuel rails anyway.

My own preference would be something like an OPS-1 bypass oil filter, but there is a clause about getting ALL preventative maintenance done, or else.

There is freight going down there... welfare juice (OJ) coming back out.

Company trucks get worked on at Prime facilities for routine stuff. Lease trucks have the option of using Prime facilities or one of the chains they have national accounts with.
