Well.... sorta. I had an app in, they called. Said I'd be going to CA for schooling. I asked if they had the skid pads there, too - and was told at that point that the pads are closed, use the simulators.

yes May does take recent grad's. but you must obtain your own cdl through a reconized school.

Oneing I did find out the day before yesterday is that living west of a line from Denver to Alb. means assignment to 11 western states with Prime with limited opportunities to go east. Unless you team. If you go outside taht area they say to plan on 4+ weeks out at a time. This has caused me to have to do a little re-evaluation on my decision to go to Prime. Like the earning potential but not the difficulties in making it by the house from time to time.
-
Ouch, that would suck. So far, at May, not seen any problems getting home for either the long-haulers (East) or the Western 11. Long haulers are usually looking at 3 weeks and the Western folks are looking at 2. Choose which you want. One gets you home more, one pays a bit better because of the miles. -
Did May close the terminal in Pensacola, FL? It's been a while since I was in touch with them, I left there in '97. I'd been with them for 7 years and enjoyed them as much as anyone could a trucking company.

No, it's still open. i am out of that terminal..

If I were to go with Prime I would surely recognize I would be out for 4 to 5 weeks. Thats just the way I read it as I read about them and talked with drivers. So you were thinking about getting with Prime also?
I'm running into some problems when thinking about getting with Prime. I can't put my finger on it. I guess I'm getting mixed messages. -
I have not made my decision yet. I do know that I have talked to around 40 Prime drivers, mostly solos. The solos are reporting net income in excess of $1300.00 per week. I know in my recent dealings not only with the recruiter but a couple of individuals from management they are not pressuring me to come there but are giving me details to help me decide. In fact some of what they have said, as evidenced above, could cause me to go somewhere else but they have not been afraid to be frank with me. I think they are doing all they can to help me make an informed decision and if that means I go somewhere else, they seem to be fine with that because they are not pressuring me. -
pawpaw, know if i were actively looking i would be considering Prime as a candiate
for the short time i have been out here i have learned how things operate, and my likes, they seem to be what i would want out of a Co. as a driver and/or l/o.pawpaw Thanks this.
