If family is the excuse hit the local trucking lanes by going to work for temp agencies that hire commercial drivers. If the industry is the problem, get yourself the 2for2 hot dogs and a pepsi at the pilot bro.

Ok I have a question, I went through all the OT in Indianapolis then went to the terminal in Gary, in have them all my driving information and any tickets I had even the recruiter said I was ok to be hired on but if I got any while driving for them then I would be let go, I said I understand and am fine with this. 1month to the day of hireing in and driving they called and said we have to let you go due to a driver review! But what I didn't get any tickets or service failures in the time I drove but your saying now a month later I'm terminated and you can't give me a honest answer even the recruiter won't talk to me about it????? So any body want to help me out on this one feel free, just a FYI I was on dollar tree dedicated out of Joliet, IL

Schneider is a great place to begin your driving career. They will make you learn compliance of all aspects of DOT and FMCSA requirements. You will either learn and practice them or you will not be with Schneider for very long. If you are willing to learn and comply you will be able to remain with them for a driving career. Depending upon how quick a study you are you will soon learn Schneider views all its drivers as beginners. You will be treated exactly in the same manner after your 20th year as you were in your first year. Every year on your hire anniversary you will be required to demonstrate your driving and knowledge skills to a Training engineer. Chances are after 3 years with the company your experience and skills will exceed those of your examiner. Training Engineers by and large have spent only a limited amount of time driving over the road and most have never had to chain up or deal with severe winter weather. If you know what the phrase; "If you can't do, teach" means. You will understand most Training Engineers completely. I recommend after a year or two and with a clean driving record you pursue other opportunities with other companies who will value your experience and pay you well for them.

^^^ reads an awful lot like someone who bristles at being held to a standard.
Had a manager once at a wholesale warehouse situation. Told about this concept for managing employees. "Expect and Inspect".
If you dont, how can you correct bad habits?gentleroger Thanks this. -
Actually, Rat, the phrase is, "inspect what you expect."
Set the standard. Make sure everyone knows the rules. And follow up.gentleroger Thanks this. -
hadnt heard it before or since. but it stuck with me....

To be fair to Mr "I'm going to respond to an 11 year old post on a thread that hasn't been updated in 4 years" - some of the way we inspect what we expect is done in a counter productive or asinine manner.
It's taken me 5 years to remember what Schneider SMART stands for, and now I have to learn what Schneider CHOICE stands for. And don't get me started on the log "audits".
That said his post reminded me about the dude who complained to OPS that I was mean to him when he drove two miles with his brakes locked up, blowing the tires in the first mile and dragging the rims for the second until I caught up to him. If you act the fool, I'll treat you as a fool.
