As of right now, I have a May 22nd start date at the OC in Dallas. Medical documents have been faxed to the safety department and I am waiting my confirmation letter. I have my drug test scheduled for this Friday. The recruiter told me that after the results are back to SNI that I will receive a welcome/confirmation letter that gives me a packing list, hotel directions, etc. To the best of my knowledge, there is nothing in my past or medically to knock me out of the running during orientation. Anybody else going on May 22nd?

Also, if after I am solo for a while and my wife becomes more accustom to me being gone, would I be able to switch from Regional to OTR to gain more driving experience in other states? That may sound like a stupid question for I know Regional is a more desirable position, but I want to position myself in case SNI does not work out and I seek another company down the road. I always like to have a plan "B" just in case.

Not really sure what regional truly is!!LOL Read my posts in an earlier thread. Seems it's really all OTR, just divided by the muddy Mississip!:biggrin_255:

I saw your other response. As someone new to the industry/company, all I can bloviate is what was previously told me by the Schneider reps, which was 500 - 800 mile radius of Nashville. I am fully expecting that what is told by a recruiter is subject to change on a large scale once in orientation, but we will see what happens. I have the hook in my mouth so I will wait and see what happens once I get pulled in the boat. :biggrin_255:

Well now that could be. Take a look on a map, and draw out that radius. I think it covers quite a portion of the east.:yes2557:

I have done that and was surprised to see how far it would take me. After my wife gets used to me being gone, I may see about changing fleets to try and get some Western runs and gain more valuable driving experience.

You could maybe do that. But I think they try to keep you on a fleet that closest to your home. Could be entirely wrong. The one to ask would be your DBL once you're assigned one.:biggrin_255:

Will Do! I wish the drug results would hurry up and get back to Schneider. I am not worried about the results, it is just I will not get my "Welcome package" until that hurdle is cleared. It is killin' me waiting on the logistics of where I am going and what I need to bring. I am sure I need more than my birth certificate, passport, license, and CDL school diploma, but that is all I have been told to bring so far:biggrin_2554:.

Chances are, you'll get a truck as soon as orientation is over. What I've seen them do for a driver is get him home asap so they can grab the rest of their stuff. The experienced drivers are given a rental car to go to orientation, and in my case, got me another one to get back home. No buses, thank God. I took most of my stuff with me, CB, atlas, clothes, bedding, you get the picture.

Why don't you call your recruiter, they should know. Just remember that really you should bring only the things you "really" need, especially if you have to go with a trainor.:biggrin_255:

I was told (insert salt here) I would go home the weekend after orientation and meet up with a local TE in my area. I will drive to orientation as a result and they will pay me mileage (only one way). After meeting up with my driver in this area (Nashville), I will be with him 7 - 10 days (more if needed), then test out (I don't know where) and be assigned my own truck.

I am only bringing a weeks worth of personal items due to what I was told to expect after orientation. I was told one thing for sure is a leather upper pair of shoes that was above my ankle. I have those, but I am not sure why those are needed only for the Dallas OC. I was told they were not required to drive, but for the OC.

This is just my ANAL nature coming out.:biggrin_25526:

We're all anal to some extent.LOL. The boots are basically an SNI policy. I know my wording won't be correct, but suffice to say, "Proper foot wear is required when on SNI property". Myself, I'd recommend that when driving as well. You don't seem like the kind of person that would be driving in sandals or flipflops, so that goes without saying really.

See if you can get your trainors cell number, they may ask him first if it's alright with him. Likely it would be, then give him a call. He would definently be the one to tell you!!

How the crap do you spell definently?:biggrin_25512:

You can pretty much bet that what you were told, is what will happen. Unless something unforeseen, never in trucking ofcourse, [LOL], comes up, you can bank on it.:yes2557:
