Bet you can't wait to get things rolling on your own. Have fun and be safe. Keep posting so we can follow your journey.

I drove for sni 3 years ago and wish I had never left. They treated me great. If they would take me back I would gladly go.
-
Why wouldn't they take you back?
-
Jason, CONGRATS!!!!
Now your a certified "punkin pilot".spelling intentional.
That's quite a jaunt to Atlanta to get a truck, hope they've got one in Indy for you. So there weren't any in Edwardsville. SNI must really be doing some hiring, and that's a good thing!
-
Give them a call, can't lose a thing by that.
-
I talked with them a couple years ago and they had me on a no rehire list for some reason. I had assumed that was a permanent thing
-
Was that only $300 only or $300 plus the mileage??
Good luck, driver. Thanks for keeping us informed and as you can, please continue to do so. I also will try to keep a running post of my time as I am able. I may keep a running journal and then transcribe it as I have computer time.
Let us know if you get to hijack Johnday's Volvo.
Master Jack Thanks this. -
Thanks a lot all! This site rules.
Friendly people and good info. Trucking is largely misunderstood, I've come to realize, so it's great to be able to talk to other drivers here!!
I'm a punkin pilot! That's cool. I'm proud and really psyched. I'm sure the first few days out, I'll be "which macro, what now" and so forth but I've just got to remember to stay calm and think it all through. Johnday yeah - no available trucks in e-ville. Indy isn't too far away so hopefully they have a good one there. My TE's truck had a really stiff clutch and clunky-feeling gearbox... the one I drove for SQT was also an '02 FL with over 800k on it (his had 745k) but comparatively, it was light to the touch and the drivetrain was much smoother under load.
I talked to driver at Edwardsville yesterday who drove for SNI in the late '90s, left, later considered it the best job he'd had, and came back 7-8 years after that to reach the same conclusion... wpmclam I think a phone call would definitely be a good idea if your thoughts are along those lines.
Bigcove, it's just been $300 salary in training. I will definitely keep posting... I have to either get an aircard or find free wifi as I'm on the road.
I am psyched to be leaving the cubicle world for the road and to be getting out on my own in my truck. I already have a small inverter, a TV and DVD player I can bring... I need a 12v cooler... that's what I consider minimum stuff. I want a CB, XM, but I think I'll have to make do with a handheld and FM to start out. I also need to dig tools out of the garage... small sledge, vice grips, screwdrivers and torx, bolt cutters, etc... all of which thankfully I already have...

Thanks, drivers!! -
LOL! I would love a Volvo. Hmm, maybe we'll both start hoarding them...
