It shouldn't matter. The restriction is in the FMCSA regs, and if you test in an automatic you SHOULD be restricted to automatics, just like if you test in a vehicle w/o air brakes you'd have a "no air brake" restriction. If you want to try cutting corners to make it easier on yourself getting the license, the license SHOULD reflect those cut corners in the form of restrictions. Want an unrestricted license? Learn to drive, and take the test in a real truck.
I have NY CDL, did road test in FL though but permit was NY and finally nY issued me CDL One question can I drive as team driver if one of team member has manual transmission CDL?
It does matter. Last time I checked, Texas and Arizona don't care what equipment you take to the test, but I see that changing anytime soon
What is funny F@@@ florida school taught me to drive on manyal but without warning they gave me automatic for real exam testing. But they screwed most of the guys like that. They should be held responsible.
No auto are not going to be in all class 8 trucks.. And the sky is not falling either.. Learn to drive a real trk. with a real tranny and get the update on your CDL.. Untill then enjoy working for US Express and the likes....
And no you can't drive team with a trk. with a maunal tranny, Because "you" don't have the proper license to drive it.....
Many states have been doing that for a while, means exactly that. Don't get caught in a manual or your in deep crap! Only way to get rid of it is to re-roadtest in a manual.
