New rules coming regarding HOURS?

    Plan better.

    I think twice in the last 14 months I've run into that scenario. And both times I was actually too tired to really care, and both loads were like 4 day runs.

    Doesn’t change the fact that they’re in school for years. We all know that training is basically non-existent in this industry.

    A solution would have to be sensible, other than do away with “X” because it doesn’t work for me. Like I’ve said numerous times, a flexible split sleeper is the best solution right now that has a chance of getting pushed through. Non-trucking special interest groups got us the 14 hour rule, so if we’re being honest with ourselves getting rid of the 70 isn’t a likely outcome.

    No. It's ten hours today, which adds up to 65 hours for the week. Then nothing back at midnight, which leaves 5 hours available tomorrow. But the trip required twenty. I'm five short.

    Don't sweat the math. The point was that the 70 hour rule starts limiting my freight options well before I even reach 70 hours.

    So? I could do a lot of things. The point is I get locked out of certain options for no good reason.

    I get locked out of pulling hazmat for no good reason.
    I get locked out of pulling tankers for no good reason.
    I get locked out of pulling .... for no good reason.
    I get locked out of flying a plane for no good reason.

    I hope you realize how silly all those sound, including yours....

    That means you did 55 hours in 5 days. So either something went wrong or you went from Seattle to Easton, but your still not tired.

    Not sweating the math. If your sitting watching the board, you have hours.

    I work for the same people you do. There's plenty of time on the loads, so your argument has no merit.

    If I'm sitting watching the board I have hours? That doesn't follow at all.

    It's easy to do 55 hours in five days if you log legally. That's only 11 hours a day and it's not all time driving.

    BTW, you do realize my example was hypothetical right? There is no way I could do ten hours today. It's already 10:30 at night.

    As for there being plenty of time on the loads, I don't know what you're trying to say. The only thing that matters is are there enough hours left on my 70 to run a given load that I want. If not, then I have to pass on it even if I'm rested and perfectly OK to drive. That's my objection to the 70 hour rule. How does that have no merit?
