And I said on another thread about where people shut down at night; when I did paper, I found myself on more than a few occasions in all the abandon truck stops or places where there was nothing.

Since I've been on the elog, that's happened twice. And once I was like 10 minutes short of the truck stops. 5 placard load. Rolling bomb. Scale right before the truck stops. Slept on some dirt road 3 miles in front of the truck stops, shut down with 2 minutes left.

Yea it sucked. Mostly cause when I woke up, I had to take a crap like a rhinoceros.

Like twice that's happened in 14 months. And I run a lot.

It's not like it happens 14 times a month.

And who knows? Bear could come by and say " You can't stay here."
    Now you can legally move.

    It's just not that overwhelming.

Well it must suck to drive around miserable then, dwelling on the loads you can't take.

I don't dwell on it. The topic of the thread is potential changes to the hours of service rules. Seemed like a good time and place to discuss it.

I think you do, or you wouldn't have brought it up.

It'd be nice if they didn't limit drivers. It's just enough irresponsible truckers out here to come up with these regulations. So many get addicted to chasing money, that they don't listen to their bodies. Sometimes your system has to get a rest. You and I know when to quit, but others don't so they fuel up on energy drinks, pills, maybe even powder, rather than go to sleep. In a way, some of us are being protected from ourselves, but they have to do what they gotta do to monitor a pretty dangerous profession. We may not agree with the regardless, I can't even remember all of them, but they can't sit back and not try to do something. People hate elogs, but to me it's no different than paper, I'd say it's better for me because I eliminate a lot time when I'm tired. Touch the screen, go to bed. Everybody is different though. I can't speak for anybody but five opinions. Many times, I'll just ask to pick y'all's brains. After all, sometimes the right things are said that makes me a better driver.

I don't think I can make the same money flipping hamburgers at McDonalds. I never get why so many of you say that, but none of you have quit to go work there. My weekly check is way better than what I could have made at McDonald's. I can live off what I make driving, but nobody can live off what you make at McDonalds. The question is, why do YOU bother driving if you feel that way?

Right and those are the ones who get burned out doing OTR, coming on here looking for Chinatown to recommend a good company to be home everyday. How many drivers complain when they have to stay out a week, maybe two weeks? I go home maybe once or twice a month....works for me. By that third week, I'm thinking about bringing it in, and most otr drivers don't even make it a week

Geez brother, so you can't take a short run that pays to conserve hrs? Or take a night run to push the hrs back a day? If owner operators are getting great rates on loads, why does the clock really matter? That's what y'all have the power to do, since you're the business men
