If you get your hazmat / tanker endorsements and run tanker out of Texas you can make a lot of $$$$. I have not been out a long time but I hear the better companies out there are Crete Carrier Corps, Shaffer trucking (same company but CCC is dry van and Shaffer is refrigerated) and Central Refrigerated. I have also hear the one's to stay away from are Swift, CR England and Stevens and others. Hope this helps.

I drive for usa truck and I know there's a lot of negative about them on here. I'm on a dedicated account for anheuser Busch making 700/wk guaranteed and offf weekends
So the 6-8 wk deal isn't always true.

If she is even remotely considering it then you need to do your absolute best to talk her into it! Have her "pm" me, I'll talk her into it! Check out my profile picts, she can see my wife behind the wheel! Nothin to it! At the very least get her to just give it a shot for three months. I think once you guys finish school and your training and start seeing those paychecks of $4000 a week you will be kicking yourself for not doing it sooner! Another reason why you can make so much more money is because your spouse is with you so you never have to go home! Once she decides she likes it, you can sell your home! That's what I did with my wife. After about 4 months of being on the road, once I made sure she was cool with everything we sold the house and car and everything we owned. Originally we were going to put stuff in storage but figured it cost more to store the stuff then it was worth! So we divided everything up between relatives and just stored a couple of boxes at each relatives houses.

We drove company for a year and then bought our own truck. Then we were really making money! After not quite ten years on the road we retired and bought and built a nice horse training facility here in central Florida. PAID FOR!!! That was ultimately our goal and really how I talked her into it in the first place. So have a goal or a promise of how long you guys are going to do it for. Once you talk her into it, start listening to Dave Ramsey and watch yourselves become millionaires!

Hit me up if you guys need anything...

One consideration is hit the phone book and find smaller (60 trucks, maybe a few more or less ) local companys near where you live. Thats what I did and I'm home every weekend and still make just under 50 grand, not a lot I know but not to bad either. I started out in an older truck and after 2 years I start this week in a brand new 660 with all the bells and whistles. I am treated well, they know me by name and I have the option of talking to the owner himself if the need arises. This requires more time and effort than getting a job with the bigger companys but once your on with them it will be worth the effort. No, no trucking job will ever be all roses but I have many perks that are not what you ever hear mentioned. 1 My tractor is at the shop every weekend, maitenence and repairs are done while I'm home instead of using time that I could be making money. 2 If I need time off, I get it, In two years I have never missed an appoitment or family function that I requested to attend. Also have had things come up where I need to stay home and it has been no problum. Ect,Ect. And my job is close to home, that can't be underrated.
Just a couple things to think about, My life seems to be a little easyer than the run of the mill driving job.

    Keepin it in the lines,

    Be safe, Happy trails.
