Hello everyone.
Starting 4 weeks of School (private, not company) for my CDL next week if nothing goes wrong between now and then.
Several weeks of research has aimed my choices of companies at either Scheider or Watkins/shepard. Both have responded positively, so... I can hope.. lol.
Who am I?
I am 36, male, with a Fiance and 2 kids. (need to somehow make 1/2 of a kid to have the "perfect" national average of 2.5)
I have owned my own companies for the last 10 years. Both a Boat repair company, and a custom leather company. The Boat repair place died in 2008 when the economy slowed down, and the leatherworks just aint paying the bills anymore.
I am VERY eager to hit the road, since I LOVE to drive and travel. Having someone pay me to do it just seems like a Bonus.
My long term goal, is to run a for a couple of years, then sit down with my fiance (hopefully "wife" by then), and re-evaluate our finances and goals. She is going to be going to school for a degree while I am away, so when she finishes, it will be time to sit down and decide where to go again...
Anyway.
Thats just a short bit about me... Hope to see you all on the road!

If for one thing this will really test out your relationship for sure, being away from each other and how you both cope with it will be the true test of your commitment to each other. I know times are hard and you have to do what you have to do nowadays but do your research trucking especially OTR can be a real relationship killer if you both are not on the same page going into this, good luck.

We have been researching, and soul searching for the last 3 months. So we aint just jumping over the cliff into this.. Maybe 20 years ago we would have decided "no", but today's the era of the internet, skype, cell phones, txt, email, ect.... So we figure we are good to go. The biggest "time away" issue was deciding to be away from my 2 year old little girl and my 14yr son..
