Seriously, I don't have log issues, never had a violation, and yes I could approve my logs any time. But, I do wait 2 or 3 days to approve my logs incase..
when I took the elog class, I was logged in the class, went to my truck slept for a few hours and rolled out.. 3hrs later I got the you have 1hr left of driving time left. Pulled over, went on paper and had safety fix. My one and only violation, via the qc. Ever since I have always let logs roll a few days, just in case I get a brain fart..

OK .... you or wife - who knows - are all over the board with this issue. Please, please tell me you were on paper logs with your trainer and you jumped into your truck without going through EOBR class.

Why are you in violation ... bet you didn't log yourself to either off duty or sleeper when you shut off and the EOBR has you still on duty after you turned off the key last night.

If that's the case, simple edit can put him/her on off duty/sleeper line and not be in violation.. then again the situation wasn't to clear as to what the violation was/is.

He's gotten it fixed now. They did have to edit something, but I don't know exactly what. I'm sorry to sound so stupid, but he was all excited (which he isn't normally) and got me very worried. That's why I came in to ask for help on his behalf. Thank you all for your help.

As long as the problem is fixed, that's all that matters..
I still remember my first week out.. the qc was my worst enemy, no training at all.

Y'all need to speak up for yourselves when mentors drop the ball. They are there to teach. They get paid for it. If there is something the mentor is not making clear, then say something! Don't wait until you're out on your own to try to figure it out. It's obviously too late for this guy, but maybe someone else will read this and get a clue. Be your own advocate. If you go solo without understanding what you need to be doing (and this includes paperwork and QC as much as driving) then you've got no one to blame but yourself.

This is where it doesn't make any sense. His mentor had to be on paper and would have been in no position to teach him EOBR.

If the mentor was on EOBR, there is no way a student can be on a truck for 6 weeks without logging his activities everyday. And I would think in 6 weeks he would have abosrbed at least the basics.
