hey girl, here is part of a letter that was sent to the O/O. Personally, I am still doing it my way. If I show up and know that I am going to be in a staging area for a little time, I am either sleeper or off duty. If I am told to hand in my keys or they throw a glad hand lock on the trailer after they have me disconnect the lines, I am sleeper or off duty. If I am in a breakroom and they have my keys, off duty
The key point to remember is that "on duty not driving" time must be logged whenever you are in a state of readiness. Even if you are in the shipper’s break room, you are still in a state of readiness, as you may be instructed at any time to move your truck. You may log "off duty" only if you are free to leave the property and use your time as you wish. Otherwise, you remain in a state of readiness and must log "on duty not driving." In cases where an extended unload time is evident, request from the customer to drop the trailer and leave the property. After arriving at the break location, you should log "off duty" or "sleeper berth" until you return to pick up the trailer.

    DocWatson Thanks this.

Why don't they allow you to use off duty authorization for a 2 hour period so you could at least split your logs if your held up?

    Oh and congrats Banana

Tell your management to come do a pretrip then since they along with thousands know trucking so well.If you know your trk and trl,you can do a pretrip in less then 15 minutes.Tell them to quit trying to log your hrs and do their own job.I know, make the inspection and logging an hr and ask them if if that is long enough,if not ill be more then happy to do my mvi and logging for another hr.I hate when companies are dictators.

The problem is that they are making up these little rules without even knowing what happens at many customers, like if sitting in a break room once docked, it is so that we do not move the truck. We are no longer responsible. They have the trailer locked in. They have the keys. They have the trailer air lines locked. When the customer does all of this, then as fas as I am concerned, I am not in a state of readiness. The customer has releived me.
