I don't work for Swift, but I do think that if they or any other company is going to dictate how much of your on-duty time you log for performing a task, then they must compensate you for that time in some way. On-duty time is a valuable and finite resource that belongs to the driver. If the company wants to use it, then they should have to buy it. They buy 'on-duty driving' time, why shouldn't they have to buy the 'on-duty' time if they feel that a driver should use more of it on a particular task than is actually necessary?

Ya they should pay us for that on duty time, we are not slaves and I would tell that if they tried telling me I had to log it I would be no pay no log, they don't like sure I would have no problem finding a new company to run for if they wanna chase good drivers away oh well.As for as GOAL I've seen several message that the CEO says u must send it with plate # of trailer why aim not getting out and looking unless I'm not 110% sure I don't have I refuse to do this as well they get goal but not the plate from me it's dumb.

I hadn't heard the part about adding the plate number. I know they are trying to reduce backing crashes by doing this. I see today at Sumner that it's only been 1 day since the last backing crash. I thought I heard one this afternoon. I heard the truck drive off afterwords. I saw that happen in Fontana as well.

How would you get the backing crashes under control?

    Does anybody know about this?

    Yes .
You are to be ON DUTY when at shipper /reciever , getting fuel , pretripping .

The " directive " concerning on / off duty came across my Qcom a couple of months ago via
    my DM .

Pre trip as it was put to me -
Question , How long does a pretrip take ?
Answer , As long as it takes.

If they're having such a big problem with backing crashes, then here's my idea: Choice of immediate termination OR pay in full out of pocket for repairs for a backing crash. Gets rid of the sorry drivers quickly.

I've been driving for 9 months now. After reading all of the stories about people backing into things, I was very very nervous about it when I first got in the truck. I've since come to realize that it's very very easy to keep from hitting things. One just needs to pay attention to what they're doing when they move the truck.
