scottie ... nothing quite so machavallian. Swift hasn't a had a full compliance review for sometime and is scheduled for one this year. It will be their first review on EOBRs and they are not quite sure what to expect.

The EOBR system can allow you to get into some detailed minutia as to your duty status vs what the truck is actually doing ... essentially Swift right now is running on the assumption that the review will get into that kind of detail and are trying to get the drivers in that level of compliance.

My take, after the review and Swift finds out the reality of what the auditors will look at, they will back off from all this nonsense.

It didn't for us, then again we're probably not as bid a target for DOT. where knocking Swift down a peg might be some FMCSA dudes fantasy.

I started with CRE and we all know the DOT is up thier rear with a full on colonoscopy ... frankly CRE's EOBR policy/guidelines are down right sloppy. When Swift went to EOBRs I was doing things the same way I did at CRE - edit early and edit often. Took about 6 months and Swift slapped my hand and said that's a no no.

See what I mean? You were paying attention, and you didn't hit the deer. The deer was not paying attention, and hit you.

The deer always hits you, regardless of where it hits you, never the other way around. That's your story and you should stick to it!

I had just picked up a load and was heading out on a nice dark 2-laner.
I barely had time to notice the deer before I felt the thump.

Sadly to say, a deer had tried to commit suicide - using my truck as the instrument.
I say 'tried', because I never found a body.
I do hope it is still among the living.

I called it in, took pics, and reported that a deer had hit my truck. Then later sent a Mac 22 because I would be an hour late for delivery on the tight load.

Never a word said about the accident or the late delivery from the company.
Probably because I was hit by a deer, and not the other way 'round.

    Never say... 'I hit a ..."
It should always be, 'I was hit by ...'
