Wow RickG, you make absolutely no sense whatsoever! Must be a Kentucky thing!

Yes lil' Ricky, we are retired from trucking at 36 from all the riches we made!

Actually SMLYNN your first year out you guys should do well over $100,000 your first year as company drivers. We were doing over $200,000 as owner op, husband/wife team. Our case was a little exceptional but nothing you guys shouldn't be able to do. I had a lot of experience before my wife joined me in the endeavor and we also had a planner instead of a dispatcher but no matter, you guys will do very well.

Don't worry about planning your time off. Take it as it comes. When freight slows or you are broke down then take your time off. When the miles are there you have to keep going though. When we drove for Central they wanted us to do 1000 a day or 7000 a week. Most of the time we did 6000-7000 but did have weeks here and there 4500-5500. Times have changed since and I'm not sure what Central's teams are doing right now. If the average is less than 5000 I would keep looking around at some different companies.

One good thing about Central is they do have lots of bonuses. We would make a lot of extra money because of this. Safety bonus, idle bonus, performance bonus, xmas bonus, you would get a bonus if you attended a meeting once a month blah, blah, blah....

Once you guys get going, give it a year or two and then maybe buy your own truck. Give it a good three months or so before getting rid of the house though. Its going to take a bit to get used to and you will most likely be in shock for the first few weeks. You do have each other though so every duty is covered by two people. My wife usually did logs and office work and phone calls etc... I did the maintenance and extreme weather driving, backing etc... Two people are also better at directions. One person drives while the other holds a flash light out the window looking for addresses!

Any way it will be a hell of an adventure and the memories and adventures you guys will have will far out weigh the money you will make!

Right lil'RickyG?!:biggrin_25523: Maybe one day you can retire too Ricky! Hell you been drivin for 35 years! Probably bought lots of chrome though huh?

Teaming for a couple works well because the money goes to 1 household. They get to spend their time together and enjoy each others company. The best part is when you get stuck somewhere you are already with your partner and can go out on a date. Whether you rent a hotel room for a couple of nights or just get a taxi ride to a nice restaraunt or show you can have a good time going out and getting away from the job for a few hours.

The other good thing about teaming is longer trips and fewer customers to deal with. Many carriers focus their team operations on drop and hook type lanes that will maximize their profitability.

Company teams routinely gross over $120,000 per year. Owner op and lease op teams will double that amount but have lots of business expenses.

When asked by the press, Mrs. Saddletramp (aka) Navigator said : I have the best job in the world! I always know where he is, and I can tell him where to go 10 hours a day!
