The rear end is shaking off and on I think they need balanced. If they don't smooth out in a week or so I will get them balanced.

I'd also ask to get some reflectors put on the mudflaps

Um, if the rear is shaking on and off, it may not be the tires. Out of balance tires will shake all the time. Sounds like a truck issue, not tire issue. Shocks, U-joint, wheel bearing, all could make it shake on and off. What did the old tires look like? If they were cupped, it may be a bearing.

Out of balance tires don't shake constantly.
Normally they'll shake consistently at different speeds. If you always have a vibration between 55 - 60, but not below 55 or above 60, then it's the tires.

In general, if you have vibration / shake / oscillation at all speeds, more noticeable at lower speeds, then you would investigate other rotating components like the wheel bearings before looking at the tires. Vibrations caused by out of balance tires will be vastly more common at higher speeds while not necessarily exhibiting symptoms at lower speeds.

Now, if the vibrations are randomly showing up at different speeds, then yes, it's not likely to be the tires. But in this case, if there was no vibration before the new tires and now there is, there's a high probability that the shop didn't balance the tires.

Yes, the vibration comes and goes it feels like the oscillation get in sync and then cancel each other out later. It has been a shake with the other tires as well and they were wearing funny on the inside wheels. I guess I need to get it looked at.

I wouldn't get to over confident... Snow and ice is so going to be snow and ice, dont matter if you got new tires or not.

I was born and raised in Wyoming, I've driven in the winter for 20 years. Tire design makes a huge difference in ice and snow. Unless it's raining on black ice then you are just screwed.
