Last year I tried tuning my CB antenna on my pick up, using a field strength meter. My conclusion was, it’s no different than using my bird meter, and adjusting it for least reflection. With least reflection on the bird, it was the strongest signal on the field strength meter. Which makes sense when you think about it. The SWR reading was really low too.

Hell the actually best way to tune the antenna is to use an rf current meter, which is never mentioned. -
I went back a few pages and reread his post to refresh my memory. yes you are correct, that is a strange way of adjusting an antenna. I’ve never heard of it, or seen it done that way either. Kind of like using a grid dip meter in reverse. -
as far as internal swr meters over the years I have found them to be fairly good, and normally adequate. You could have the local shop put the antenna on a antenna analyzer to check it. -
Yes im well aware its same model and not the very same ant and that all antennas of same brand are not equal,just like cars,motorcycles,jets,hair salons,hookers,french frys ect..
