I hear ya I have orientation on Monday and feel like I am over packing, but I am bringing cold weather gear also because who knows where we may end up. Good ole Wal Mart has some nice inexpensive collapsible bags that are decent size to pack in.

I highly recommend one of these for your time in training:

Huge duffel bag that folds down into nearly nothing when it's not needed. Mine has been on several Greyhound trips, and still looks new.

Keep in mind that you may be sharing a bunk with everything that you took to Springfield, so pack carefully.

Be careful. You will share your bunk with everything you bring. Everything. Including your hard-case suitcase, if that's what you bring. My experience has been that we always pack more than we end up needing. Pack smart.

Okay thanks guys. Do you fit the sleeping bag in the duffel bag also?

Also, would you need those thick sleepingbags or a thin one is okay? Thanks!

Our trucks have heat and A/C :) but as far as think ness of the sleeping bag that kind of depends on if you get cold or hot easy. Also kind of depends on the trainer as I like my truck cool but my trainer loved his heat.

As far as storing the sleeping bag you really don't have to . If you have it neatly laid out on the top bunk it usually stays put unless you really have to romp down on the brakes.

I didn't bother with a sleeping bag. I used a cheap queen size quilt from Walmart. Lay it on the bunk, and fold it over like a sleeping bag.

It's not like the truck is really going to get cold.

Rather than cart your sleeping bag across the country just buy it at Wal-mart in Springfield. Esp if you think it may not fit in your duffle.

Trust me just keeping up with 1 bag on greyhound is enough stress.
