There's about to be major changes to GLR fleet. Costco is opening a new distribution center near Detroit on 12/15. Can't say for sure what will happen but obviously there won't be any Morris to Detroit loads. How they break the rest up and if they have separate planners for Detroit remains to be seen. Heard rumors about this before then last week I drove a day cab up to New Boston for the new dc while my truck was in Columbus shop, talked to dispatch directly about it. Google "Costco dc van burden mi" for more info.
Yep. Hubby has been trying to get ahold of the guy in charge of the route. His dm recommended it since they will run both local and regional.
Yeah, I got a couple messages about the new DC and was told to expect a call from the guy who will be running the account for Swift. My recommendation? DON'T DO IT!!!!!!!! The guy ran the Joliet Dollar Tree account into the ground. He is an absolute idiot and I can't believe they are still letting him be a manager. He probably hasn't called me about the account because he recognized my name and knows I'll call him out on it. If this new DC means we won't be going to the Detroit area anymore, I am fine with that. My last couple runs to Detroit area stores have been absolutely pathetic. The last one I had to sit and wait for five hours while they got there act together to live unload me. The only thing that concerns me is that I heard this DC will be covering Ohio, so I have to wonder how GLR is gonna get me home. I haven't had a chance to ask about that yet.
Hmm. Good to know. Right now he is on the Sears dedicated and his main objective is to get out of Chicago. Taking 4 hours to drive 120 miles is getting really old. Plus, his dm said it would get him home every weekend.
The Detroit dc will cover Ohio for sure. Question is whether current GLR fleet will pick up and deliver from both dc's or will they split it so only people from IL and IN deal with Morris and people from MI and OH deal with Detroit.
Yeah, Chicagoland sucks. No question about that. One thing I have learned, I avoid 90/94 through downtown like the plague. 3 hrs to go 3 miles. Yeah, no thanks. If I'm coming from the east and I have to go somewhere north through Chicago, I always take 294. It might add some miles, buts it's way better than downtown. Yes, it can have its own problems, but I've never seen it as bad as 90/94. Check out GLR. I don't know if there are actually any openings right now, but it doesn't hurt to check it out. It's mostly Costco, a load out and then maybe two or three back hauls to get back. Then you do it again. And you can be home weekly and not lose a bunch of money doing it.
