Hello you all. My name is josh and I am looking to get into the trucking industry. My wife recently quit her job as an area supervisor at a retailer clothing company that she was fed up with. I have never been a driver but just recently got the learning book from the california DMV. I have to double my current pay per month from 1200 per month to about 3000 asap. to keep up with the bills while supporting her schooling at community college where she is attending for the first time full time.
I dont have any money in the bank right now and I believe the test/cdl app fee is about 70bucks. If I do pass the written for my drivers permit will that make me a candidate for a company to give the appropriate drivers training behind the wheel before taking my driving test?
Will a company pay for your DMV medical report for your license or is that also an expense you are to pay for yourself upfront before ever getting hired? and are there any other expenses that I have missed that I should prepare to pay myself? Just FYI I am 32 years old living in marina Ca.
Thanks in advance for the community and shared info to help me on my way. :salute:

It can be done, just get as much info as you can about the different ways available to get your CDL and initial experience. Find what works for you best.

You can easily double your income in trucking with the right company. Hazmat/tankers you can "take home" a grand a week or more. Talk to a Schneider recruiter about their CDL program. They will pay for CDL school and put you right in to hazmat/tankers at graduation, if you're in the hiring area. There are other options with other companies, but Schneider tankers is the quickest way to the big paychecks.
