Sounds like you need to do some more of Step #2 from above! Be glad they found it now, and not on the side of the road.
-
Dave you need to do #2 as well. Nothing in a 10 speed can be "flipped". Only in a 9 speed can 8th and 9th be turned around.
-
You sure? A 15 speed is a 10 with another auxiliary section, and you can turn those around.
-
Yea there was two gears that needed to be replaced one of the gears had a chuck gone and needed to replaced and there was another that was worn down and needed to be replaced and one of the shafts was shot as well which would explain the whining Goin down the road .... I should have takin itthere to begin with but o well lesson learned. So I bought a cutoff for the suspension to replace the old air trac system so my next adventure will be finding a good shop in pa to do the swap.

True a 15 speed is a 10 but the 5 extra gears are in the low side.
-
Just a word of advice, what ever gear that needs to be replaced you need the also replace the gear thats running with it.
-
Yes, ratio-wise, they are; but both are 5 speed main boxes. The 10 has 2 speed aux, the 15 a 3 speed.
-
To make a direct drive into an overdrive or a overdrive into a double overdrive is done in the main gear box. A 9speed is the only trans that this can be done in. Nothing is changed in the aux. box.
-
Let me correct myself a bit after some refreshing via eaton. A 15 is cousins with the 7,8,and 9 LL's. The 10's are related more to the 9,13, and 18. Has to do with the size of the deep reduction gears, the aux is vastly different.
I know this, my point is the main boxes are very similar across the whole RT line.
