Well I have put it off as look as I can, one of my T2000 has been in the shop for two weeks and the repairs to keep all six running are starting to add up to a new truck payment.
Looking at the Pro Star plus, we haul "lite" and of course are looking for max fuel mileage, so MF 11, 390 HP with ultrashift plus probably around a 3.21 rear gear.
We only gross 48,000 truck, trailer and cargo. Also we are a flatbed so we don't have a lot of wind drag.
Biggest question I have is, does anyone here have any experiance with the factory Pro Star battery pack climate control for the sleeper?

I have the battery pack ac system. I tried it when the truck was new. Then when I needed it the battery's were dead. The dealers I have been to never could fix it so I gave up. It didn't come with a manual . So I don't have much to work with.

There were some calibration issues on the MF11s not too long ago. They seem to have been cleared up with the last flashes, but I think I would still prefer the 13. How fast are you interested in running? You can run upper 60s with a 435hp MF13, 3.25 or 3.36 ring and pinion, and a low pro 22.5 and still get over 7 mpg pretty easily at close to 80,000. A direct drive trans/2.64/low pro 22.5 combo will get you near 8 with a 410hp MF13 if you keep the road speed down in the low 60s and are running less weight
The battery powered APU works ok if you are running a mid/flat roof 56" sleeper, but it struggles with the 73" hi rise or condo sleepers.
Let me know if you have any other questions or need a set of specs.KANSAS TRANSIT Thanks this. -
Thanks, appreciate the info. We haul very little weight total gross T/T and cargo never exceeds 48,000 Just didn't want to have to feed a bigger motor than I had to.
We have run ISM Cummins and they did well, HOWEVER I am sceptical that I will be able to beat the mileage of the ISM's. We have seen as high as 9.1 on an IFTA quater report, this in a heavy truck T2000.
That truck was S/A ISM 370 10sp Direct Drive tranny with a 2.85 rear lo-pro 22.5
We run 65 on the cruise and 68 on the pedal. I was hoping that the addition of the APU would help offset the mileage. I do understand about the differance between the size of sleepers.
I guess I am just really leary of the newer engines and still may go the glider route so that I can get ISM's again.
Thanks Stan -
We had an early battery pack system on a couple of trucks, it was not factory installed and it worked "ok" when it worked, I guess I was just hoping that a factory system would have more of the kinks worked out of it.
Sounds like you are not getting a charge from you alt. to your battery pack. On ours we had a switch that would always charge the truck batteries first and then switch to the battery pack. -

Kansas. I would spec a MF13 430MT, Gear it @ 3.21 use, all arrow package, single axle w/ pusher, and progressive shift. You should limit your cruise and and ped to 65mph. Also, gear down protection is a nice option. You will be 10 + mpg. We are seeing 11 mpg in a lot of cases with light highway loads.
-
you dont want Gear down protection and progressive shift programmed together. Its one or the other. They conflict each other and cause low power complaints.

Thanks for the info guys, have a great holiday.

Those with the MF 13 Engine, what is the optimum RPM for both performance and economy? Speed is not what I am looking for, just best RPM for that engine.
